Can’t get up off that chair?

In order to succeed, we need to keep ourselves motivated; but try as you might there are often times when simple motivation seems to be the most difficult thing to do.  You know that if the fire alarm went off you would quickly have enough motivation to get up and run out the door.  But how do you keep motivated to do the ordinary things from one day to the next?
There are a lot of things that get in the way of motivation – low expectations (it never happens for me, so why try), anxiety (I can’t do that), boredom (that doesn’t interest me) and distraction (who, what, where?) etc.
