What happens during a treatment?
The treatment begins with an informal discussion to determine the client’s general health status. Then the patient lies fully clothed on a treatment bed with their eyes closed. The practitioner channels energy to the client by placing their hands very lightly on the body or holding them slightly above the client. The treatment lasts around an hour and during that time the practitioner will slowly work along the client channelling Reiki energy to where it is needed.
What will I feel?
Experiences of Reiki vary from one person to the next, but common experiences are feelings of deep relaxation and sensations of heat in areas of the body where the practitioner is working.
Can a Reiki practitioner diagnose physical illness?
No, Reiki is not a diagnostic technique. Reiki works alongside conventional medical treatments to speed recovery, but you should always follow your GP’s advice.
When is Reiki useful?
Reiki is useful even if you just want to feel more energised or want to relax more. Clients often find that they feel more relaxed, tranquil and healthier for days afterwards. Reiki is also very effective in dealing with physical and emotional illness, stimulating the body to heal itself more quickly.
How many treatments will I need?
It is difficult to generalise because every client is an individual, even one Reiki session may make a difference. However a course of regular treatments may be more effective. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and will always be subject to your own preferences.
